The Mammoth Caves...
The Mammoth Caves are preserved by the Mammoth Cave National Park. It is the world's longest cave system known, with more than 400 miles explored. The park was established on July 1st, 1941. It became a Word Heritage Site on October 27th, 1981, and an international Biosphere Reserve on September 26th, 1990. It is often referred to as a "grand, gloomy, and peculiar", as young slave/guide Stephen Bishop had described it.
